01Why isolate

Why Isolate the Voice Instead of Re-recording

Interviews, location voiceovers and remote calls share one problem: the take you want is the take you got. A voice isolator exists for exactly that situation. It rescues the recording rather than asking you to make a new one.

The take you can't get back

The guest has left, the set is struck, or the delivery was perfect and the air conditioner was not. Re-recording costs time, and it also costs the performance itself. Voice isolation keeps what you said and removes what the room added.

Cleaner input for everything downstream

A clean voice track is not only nicer to hear. Captions transcribe more accurately, a voice cloning sample produces a closer clone, and a voice changer has less noise to misread as speech. Run the voice isolator first and every later step improves.

When you should re-record anyway

Noise removal works on what the microphone captured. If the voice itself clipped, if two people spoke over each other, or if the speaker was quieter than the traffic, no isolator recovers what was never recorded. Those are the cases to redo.

Nothing to install

The AI voice isolator runs in the browser. No plugin, no desktop app, no audio driver.

Works on any device

Windows, macOS, Linux, iPad or a phone. If it can open a web page and read a file, it can isolate a voice.

Keeps the performance intact

Pacing, breaths and emphasis come through untouched. Only the background goes.

02The basics

What Is a Voice Isolator?

A voice isolator is an AI tool that separates human speech from everything else in a recording — music, wind, traffic, keyboard clicks, room echo — and outputs a clean voice-only track. Unlike a noise gate or an EQ, it recognises the voice itself rather than cutting frequencies.

Voice isolator vs. noise reduction filter

A noise filter works by frequency. It finds the bands where hiss or hum lives and turns them down. The trouble is that speech lives in those bands too, so sibilance goes dull and the ends of words get clipped along with the noise.

A voice isolator has learned what speech sounds like and separates by content, not by frequency. That is why it can remove background music, which overlaps the voice almost completely, where a filter cannot.

Voice isolator vs. vocal remover

The two do opposite jobs. A vocal remover strips the singing out of a song and keeps the instrumental, for karaoke and covers. A voice isolator keeps the speech and strips everything else, for podcasts, video and voiceover.

Which one do you need?

If you want the person talking, this page is the right tool. If you want a song without its singer, look for a vocal remover instead.

03How it works

How to Isolate a Voice in 3 Steps

The whole process runs on this page in the browser. Nothing to install, no queue, no export hidden behind another screen.

  1. 1

    Upload or record

Drop in an MP3, WAV or M4A file, or record straight from your microphone. Files up to fifteen minutes are accepted. The length and credit cost appear the moment the upload finishes.

  2. 2

    Isolate

Press Isolate Voice. Processing usually takes a fraction of the recording's length. While it runs, the waveform cleans up from left to right, so you can see the noise floor disappearing before you hear it.

  3. 3

    Compare and download

Two tracks appear under one playhead: the original and the voice only. Switch between them at any moment to hear exactly what changed, then download the isolated voice as MP3.

Supported formats and limits

MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG, up to 50 MB and fifteen minutes per file. Output is MP3. The cap keeps processing time and cost predictable; split longer material at natural breaks and isolate each part.

04Hear it

Hear the Difference Before You Download

Most voice isolation tools hand you a download link and leave the judging to you, which means opening two players and scrubbing back and forth. Here the original and the result sit under a single playhead.

One playhead, two tracks

Tap either track and playback continues from the same second on the other one. It does not restart. That is the fastest way to tell what the voice isolator removed and what it kept.

What to listen for

Check three things: breaths and sibilance are still there, the ends of sentences are not shortened, and the room sound has gone. That last one can feel strange at first, and it is correct.

Switch mid-sentence

Jump between original and isolated on the exact word you care about, not from the top of the clip.

Download only when it sounds right

Credits are spent on the isolation, not on listening. Compare as long as you like before saving.

05Use cases

What You Can Clean Up

A voice isolator handles any recording that is speech plus something you did not want. These are the four situations it is used for most.

Podcast and interview recordings

Air conditioning, street noise through a window, a keyboard under the desk, a television in the next room. Isolate the voice and the episode sounds like it was recorded in a booth.

Video voiceovers shot on location

Wind, traffic and crowd hum are part of filming outside. The voice isolator removes them from the dialogue so you do not need to return to a studio for a re-read.

Voice samples before cloning

A clone is only as clean as the sample it learns from. Isolate the voice first and clone your voice from the result. The clone picks up your voice, not your room.

Old or phone-quality recordings

Voicemails, archived interviews, meeting captures. It cannot restore frequencies that were never recorded, but it removes the noise that sits on top of them.

What it can't do

It will not separate two people talking at once, it will not bring back words that were drowned out, and it is not a live call feature. Voice isolation works on recordings you already have.

06Comparison

Voice Isolator vs. Vocal Remover vs. Noise Filter

The three names get used for each other constantly, and they solve different problems. One table settles it.

If there is music behind the speech, only the first two can deal with it, and only a voice isolator gives you the voice back.

07Best practice

Getting the Cleanest Result

The AI voice isolator does most of the work on its own. Three habits make the output noticeably better.

Why the isolated track can sound "too clean"

Room ambience is removed along with the noise, because to the model it is noise. If a scene needs atmosphere, mix the original track back under the isolated voice at around minus twenty decibels in your editor. You get the space without the hum.

Give it the full recording

The model needs a few seconds of context to learn what the noise sounds like. Trimming tightly before you upload makes the job harder, not easier.

Leave a second of silence at the start

A short stretch of pure noise at the head of the file is the best reference the voice isolator can get.

Don't pre-process

Audio that has already been compressed, gated or heavily EQ'd reads as damaged speech. Upload the raw file and let the isolation happen once.

08Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Which plans include the voice isolator?

Every paid plan, charged by the minute of audio in credits at the same rate as the AI voice changer. Free accounts can upload a file and see the cost, but processing needs a subscription. See pricing for the per-minute rate.

What is voice isolation?

Voice isolation is the process of separating the speech in a recording from every other sound in it, such as music, traffic or room echo, and keeping only the voice. Unlike an equaliser, it identifies the voice itself instead of cutting frequency bands.

Does it remove music from behind a voice?

Yes. Background music is the case a frequency filter cannot handle and a voice isolator can. The output is the voice, not the music; if you want the instrumental instead, you need a vocal remover.

Will it cut off breaths, sibilance or the ends of words?

No. Keeping those is the main difference from a noise filter. If you hear a word end early in the result, the original almost always had the voice drowned out at that point.

What formats and length are supported?

MP3, WAV, M4A and OGG, up to 50 MB and fifteen minutes per file. The isolated voice downloads as MP3.

Can I use the isolated voice to clone my voice?

Yes, and it is the best way to prepare a sample. A clean voice track gives the clone your voice without the noise of the room. After isolating, use the Clone it button to carry on.

Is this the same as Voice Isolation on iPhone?

No. Voice Isolation on iPhone is a live microphone mode for calls and applies while you speak. This voice isolator processes recordings you already have, works on any device with a browser, and also removes music, which the phone setting does not.

Is my recording stored?

The isolated result is saved to your history so you can play or download it later, and you can delete it at any time. The uploaded source file is used for processing and not kept.
